An iconic, powerful and soulful song originally written and performed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Under the Bridge" expresses reverence for Los Angeles - the City of Angels - while meditating on themes of loss, connection and recovery. This reinvention is a tribute to the band - and the city - with deference and gratitude for their respective influences on my artistry and personal journey. I wanted to give a nod to the original video that features Anthony Kiedis walking through LA, while adding a meaningful modern-day spin... We showcase the underground artistry - the "writing on the walls" - that is present almost everywhere you look in many parts of Los Angeles. The underground art and graffiti share positive, uplifting messages, and it's truly an affirmative and connecting experience to come across such surprising, often serendipitous renegade beauty when out and about in the city. It gives the sense we truly are all a vast fabric woven together, and that no matter how difficult the city can be at times, we are not in it alone... Kindred hearts and spirits surround us, and the evidence is in plain sight if we have the presence of mind to look for it and see it. We explore unique but perhaps less visibly mainstream areas like the Silverlake neighborhood and LA River, as well as familiar Los Angeles landmarks like Sunset Blvd, uncovering messages of hope, beauty, connection and encouragement all along the way. As I saw that Paris Hilton lost her home in the fires and is matching donations in partnership with CORE to assist families that have been affected, it gave me the idea that I might be able to use this video to help touch people's hearts with healing during this difficult time while also supporting fundraising efforts. I myself am a mom of 3 little boys, and we left Los Angeles temporarily to remove them from smoke and particle exposure. My heart goes out to families that have lost everything and do not have adequate resources for food, shelter, and so much more. PLEASE DONATE TO SUPPORT THOSE IMPACTED BY THE 2025 LOS ANGELES WILDFIRES https://www.coreresponse.org/southern... ABOUT CORE AND THE LA FIRES Emergency Response | January 2025 Los Angeles Fires On January 7, 2025, several major wildfires, fueled by unprecedented winds and unseasonably dry conditions, erupted across the greater Los Angeles area, destroying thousands of homes and forcing hundreds of thousands to evacuate. With these fires largely uncontained, resources are stretched extremely thin. With at least five major fires ignited across Los Angeles since Tuesday, from the Palisades Fire along the coast to the deadly Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena, tens of thousands of acres have burned – including homes, schools, and businesses, forever altering these communities and those who call them home. As unfavorable firefighting conditions and strong winds continue, the likelihood of more fires across Los Angeles remains. Our Response CORE immediately deployed an emergency response team to support those near the fires, where air quality is a major concern. With our headquarters in Los Angeles, we already serve residents living in many of the impacted areas through our climate resilience and public health programs. ACTIVE RESPONSE — Distributing cash vouchers so people can purchase items to meet their unique needs. With your support, our goal is to give $1M in assistance. — Providing N95 masks, hygiene kits, and other resources to protect people from smoke and ash. — Assisting local shelters by supplying WiFi sources, charging banks, and cellphone batteries so people can communicate with their loved ones and get critical information and resources. — Supporting immigrant communities in Los Angeles through our multilingual staff, resource navigation, help with aid applications, and more. LONG-TERM RECOVERY CORE will continue to help local families long after the fires are extinguished. We will rebuild Los Angeles together. Our long-term priorities include: — Critical structural repairs and rebuilding so people can return to their homes. — Case management support for displaced people throughout the reconstruction process. — Providing debris kits to recover items that survived the fires, along with safety items such as goggles, gloves, and masks so people are protected from hazardous fire remains. https://www.coreresponse.org/southern... +++++ Huge thanks and credit to: Jonny Mancini for filming and editing Jesua Olvera for makeup Ben Masters for music production Dave Harris for music mastering All of the incredible artists and angels who make LA the special and powerful place that it is.
